Unique to this page: the same 2007 Energy Policy Act shift that moved the spring-forward also moved the fall-back from the last Sunday of October to the first Sunday of November. At 2:00 a.m. the local hour repeats 1:00–2:00 a.m.; that extra hour is why some logs show the same local time twice and why overnight shifts feel long.
Do you count to the repeated hour?
The published target is the November Sunday itself. If you need the instant clocks actually repeat, build a labeled custom countdown for 2:00 a.m. in a named zone rather than asking this holiday URL to impersonate a shift log.
How should overnight staff treat the repeated hour?
Payroll systems sometimes pay 25 hours; others ignore the repeat. This page cannot settle that argument. Use the Sunday as the civic date people mean when they say “fall back,” and keep a separate labeled 2:00 a.m. clock if you are writing a shift handoff. Do not copy a European last-Sunday-of-October widget onto a US crew.
Does Halloween change because DST just ended some years?
Only when the first November Sunday arrives before October 31 — it does not. Halloween stays October 31; the fall-back Sunday is a different civic date, even when they sit in the same week (as in 2026, when clocks change November 1).
