About MyDaysUntil

MyDaysUntil is a small countdown site for holidays, birthdays, and any date you type in. The product name in the UI is DaysUntil. The public hostname is mydaysuntil.com. We are not daysuntil.com — that site has been online since 1999 and is a different project.

Methodology

User-facing clocks use the timezone of this browser. For a US holiday we count to that local calendar date (from local midnight, through the end of the local day). We do not count to UTC midnight. After the local day ends, the next occurrence is next year — so on December 26 the Christmas page aims at December 25 of the following year.

Date rules live in lib/events.ts: fixed month/day, nth weekday, Western Easter (computus), a weekend-aware tax-day helper, relative days (Black Friday = Thanksgiving + 1), and a manual map for Super Bowl Sundays. Page titles stay yearless so a UTC build cannot flip “Christmas 2027” while it is still Christmas Day in the US. The live clock supplies the next date in this browser.

The first HTML paint leaves the ticking numbers blank so a UTC server guess cannot flash the wrong day count before hydration.
