Business Days Calculator: Add or Count Working Days
Use this business days calculator to add business days to a date, subtract them, or count the working days between two dates. It is a workday calculator: weekends drop out, and US federal holidays drop out while the switch is on. The result updates as you type. No sign-up.

Assumptions
- The start date is not counted. The end date is included. Monday to Tuesday is 1 business day. Monday to Friday counts Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday: 4 business days. The same date in both fields is 0.
- When the end date is earlier than the start date, the count includes the end date and excludes the start date. That is the same inclusion rule as the days between dates tool. A spreadsheet NETWORKDAYS formula also counts the start date when it is a workday, so its number is one higher in that case.
- Saturday and Sunday are always skipped. The count uses civil dates, so a daylight-saving change does not add or drop a day.
- With the switch on, these US federal holidays are skipped: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day / Indigenous Peoples' Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Presidents’ Day is this site’s name for the federal Washington’s Birthday holiday, the third Monday in February. Columbus Day / Indigenous Peoples’ Day is the federal Columbus Day Monday. Inauguration Day closes federal offices in the Washington, D.C. area only and is not in this site’s holiday calendar, so it stays a working day here.
- Observed-date rule: a holiday that falls on Saturday is taken on the Friday before, and a holiday that falls on Sunday is taken on the Monday after. A Saturday January 1 is observed on December 31 of the previous year. That shift is applied when the January 1 civil date is inside 2026, 2027, and 2028.
- Holiday dates are the same rules already used on the 2026 calendar, 2027 calendar and 2028 calendar. For any other year the calculator skips weekends and names the missing year on the result. It does not fill in holiday dates for that year.

DaysUntil counts down to any date in this browser. The date calculator adds calendar days, including weekends. Days between dates counts every calendar day and weekday, and leaves holidays in the count.
FAQ
- Do holidays count as business days?
- US federal holidays are skipped while “Skip US federal holidays” is on, which is the default. Turn that switch off and those holidays count as working days; Saturday and Sunday are still skipped. The holidays are New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day / Indigenous Peoples' Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Dates come from this site’s calendar for 2026, 2027, and 2028. When a date falls in another year, the result names that year and leaves its holidays in the count.
- How do you count business days from a start date?
- The start date is left out and the end date is included. Add 1 business day to a Friday and the result is Monday. Monday to Tuesday is 1 working day. The same date in both fields is 0. Subtracting walks backward with the same skips: 1 business day before a Monday is the previous Friday, or Thursday when that Friday is a federal holiday.
- What is 30, 60, or 90 business days from today?
- Tap 30, 60, or 90 under “Business days from today.” The start date becomes today in this browser and the calculator adds that many business days. Weekends are skipped. With the holiday toggle on, US federal holidays in 2026, 2027, and 2028 are skipped too. Change the number or the start date and the result updates immediately.
- What happens when a federal holiday falls on a weekend?
- Federal offices observe that holiday on a weekday. A Saturday holiday is observed the Friday before. A Sunday holiday is observed the following Monday. The U.S. Office of Personnel Management applies that rule under 5 U.S.C. § 6103. Independence Day’s legal date is Saturday, July 4, 2026, so the observed holiday is Friday, July 3, 2026. Independence Day’s legal date is Sunday, July 4, 2027, so the observed holiday is Monday, July 5, 2027. The weekend date itself is already outside the workweek. This calculator skips the observed weekday.
